Body Reviver is committed to providing you with excellence in our treatments and in customer service.
Body Reviver specialises in the following areas of remedial and sports massage.
Remedial massage
Remedial massage - using a combination of techniques such as deep tissue, friction, and compression to facilitate trigger points or myofascial release to restore the tissue to healthy states.
Remedial massage is both therapeutic and relaxing. It is especially beneficial for releasing chronic muscular adhesion and tension associated with regional pain such as neck spasm and headaches, repetitive strain injury, frozen shoulder or lower back pain. It is also effective in helping to reduce stress and promote muscle recovery and general well being.
Key benefits of Remedial Massage include: the stimulation to the blood supply allowing toxins in the muscles to be removed; the calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort; and the toning and relaxing of muscles to improve joint mobility. An improvement to the health of the cells, the repairing of tissues, and the easing of stiffness and tension can also be experienced through therapeutic relaxation.
Swedish / Relaxation massage
Swedish Massage is a basic relaxing full body massage which may include a variety of massage strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve circulation. Swedish may also include range of motion stretching.
The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, and greater flexibility.
The main purpose of Swedish Massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Some other benefits include shortening recovery time from muscular strain, increased circulation without increased heart load, stretching of ligaments and tendons, skin stimulation and soothing of the nervous system.
It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested as part of a regular program for stress management.
Triger point therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is a concentrated application of pressure on the trigger point, to break the cycle of pain and or spasm.
Trigger points, are areas of hyperirritability in the soft tissue structure. These can be acute sources of pain or latent, unnoticed by the client until pressure is applied by the practitioner. Trigger points are manifested as small contraction knots in the muscles, that control the state of contraction and active ones may cause muscle spasm and referred pain.
It is usually uncomfortable when first pressed but the sensation subsides with time, (Often know as the good pain), as the contraction is released and the muscle opens up.
Conditions that will benefit from this modality include: Sports Injuries, Chronic Headaches, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, TMJ, Neck and Jaw Pain Stress and Fatigue
Sports massage
Sports Massage helps aid recovery and relieve muscle spasm through deep tissue massage, stretches, and a variety of muscular releases.
Sports Massage reduces the risk of injury, alleviates soreness after training, decreases recovery time, helps prepare athletes for events, and helps to identify restriction or dysfunction before it becomes a serious issue and interrupts your training routine or performance. After activity, massage helps to flush lactic acid and uric acid out of the muscles and reset the muscle fibre lengths.
Sports massage is not only utilised by professional sportspeople or people that exercise heavily. Sports massage is beneficial to anyone who exercises, even if it is only mild exercise such as regular walking.
Regular Sports massage can: Stretch and relax muscles, Relieve muscle pain and spasm, Improve range of motion, Identify tender areas before they develop into injuries, Speed recovery from muscular exertion, Free muscle adhesions, Restore suppleness and elasticity, Give the athlete better mind/body connection and awareness, Reduce muscle stiffness and soreness, Prepare the athlete for competition
Deep tissue
Deep Tissue Massage uses slow strokes and deep hand pressure on areas of muscle tension, either following or against the direction of the muscles, tendons and fascia. It frees the muscles, facilitates the release of tension patterns and can restore suppleness, length and increased range of motion.
It is designed to reach the deep sections of thick muscles, specifically the individual muscle fibres.
The purpose of Deep Tissue Massage is to unstick the fibres of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held tension points. Specific hand positions and strokes are used to respond to various tissues while breath and movement techniques are employed to release muscular congestion. It helps to loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly.
It is both corrective and therapeutic. It is beneficial for many physical problems, including sports injuries and chronic pain.
Pregnancy massage
Pregnancy Massage can greatly assist with the musculoskeletal and postural changes that occur in the body during pregnancy by minimising the impact of extra weight on the back, pelvis, and neck, and by clearing any structural restrictions.
Pregnancy massage uses a combination of Swedish and Remedial Massage techniques, to assist with the tensions and pains experienced during pregnancy.Massage reduces peripheral swelling, soothes the nervous system, helps to prevent insomnia, muscle cramps and back pain.
Care must be taken during the first trimester but Pregnancy Massage is beneficial throughout the whole pregnancy. Various techniques are used as the client progresses through the pregnancy and massage may be performed whilst she is lying on her side or on a special table that allows her to lie on her stomach. Once the pregnancy is advanced, she is discouraged from lying on her back as this may cause pressure on deep blood vessels.
Regular massage throughout the pregnancy is also said to shorten labour time and the return to optimal fitness after birth.
Cupping & Silicone massage cupping
Cupping is a very effective healing method, in which cups are placed on the skin to create vacuum. Here at Body Reviver we are using silicone cups that do not require the use of fire. Silicone cups allow the therapist to compress the bulb to remove oxygen from the cup to create suction. The level of suction, light or deep, can be manipulated by varying the compression of the bulb.
The creation of suction (or negative pressure) from cupping disperses or drains stagnation caused by the accumulation of cellular waste, such as lactic acid and other toxins that form deep within muscle tissue or joint as a result of injury, trauma or overuse. Excessive stagnation that resides within deep tissue reservoirs creates inflammation, pain, swelling, stiffness and decreased range of motion.
The color and pattern of the cupping marks depend on the level of stagnation in the area, and range from a bright red to dark purple, usually lasting 3 days to a week - sometimes longer if the person is very sick or sedentary. If there is no stagnation present, there will be only a pink marking which disappears in a few minutes to a couple of hours.
Sites where there is old trauma or injury may require multiple cupping treatments to remove all stagnation. You will find in follow up treatments the marks will be progressively lighter as the pathogens are systemically removed from the body.
Cupping can be done statically, keeping the cups in one place, or dynamically by using a massage oil combined with gentle movement.
Cupping can be combined with a massage treatment or be done just itself and works its magic on tight shoulders, sore backs, achy muscles, neck pain, headaches or sciatica etc.
Cupping - Magnetic HACI cupping
Magnetic Haci Cupping - It is a combination of therapies – acupoint pressure, magnetic treatment and negative pressure. When the cup is attached to the surface of the body, the skin is pulled up by the vacuum and the pointed end of the cone creates a magnetic acupressure like a needle, but without damaging the tissue. The magnetic field penetrates to a depth of six to nine inches, and it improves blood circulation and enhancing the metabolism at the cellular level.
Therapeutic effect of using bio-magnetics - health is based upon the individual cells of the body vibrating at a characteristic normal frequency. Disease, on the other hand, represents an abnormal change in cellular vibration.
The therapeutic application of magnets, at the deepest level, is based on the principle of restoring normal cellular vibration, positively influencing the relationships throughout the entire body-mind process.
